Proverbs 31:10 and an Exceeding Amount of Grace!

"An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels."
-Proverbs 31:10

This verse is amazing in my life, and not amazing in the sense that is used today to describe something cool, but amazing in the sense that it is startlingly impressive- Amazing in the strongest form there is. An excellent wife is a challenge, an exceedingly difficult woman to find. In one verions I have, the word rare  is used instead of precious. She is more rare than jewels - and please keep in mind the time of which this was written. They couldn't go to the store and find a diamond ring or a ruby necklace - the people of that time had to search hard and work hard to find them. They were not easily accessible, they were not easy to find. It was a challenge. On top of that, jewels were not things that were just tossed around willy-nilly. They were kept well; cherished; they were precious and treated as such. An excellent wife is rare & precious. She was rare in Old Testament times, how much more rare is she today?
I have to admit, when Tony tells me that I'm an excellent wife I feel like he's being cheated in some way. The definition of excellent  is: possessing outstanding quality or superior merit; remarkably good; extremely good; extraordinary; superior. These are things I often do not believe of myself. Extremely good?  Psalms 14:3 & 53:3 say "...there is none who does good, not even one". In Mark 10 verse 18 Jesus makes the same claim, though stated differently as a response to a man seeking eternal life, "And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone." I often times feel far from the Proverbs 31 woman, let alone an "excellent wife. I don't alawys have the best attitude, my mind gets distracted with plans of the future - our plans of 'grandeur', I don't keep the house sparkly clean, I forget to plan/make dinner, I can be high maintenance and difficult, I'm not always motivated to serve my husband how I am called to by God. I have this idea of what an "excellent wife" should be, partly guided from Proverbs 31, partly guided by my ideas of perfectionism. I am no where near what an "excellent wife" should be. But, what a beautiful act of grace to my life! Despite all my imperfections and the fact that I fall short of my version of the excellent wife, my wonderful, amazing, loving Hubster stills sees me that way. He looks at me and sees past my faults, sees through my insecurities and sees a Proverbs 31 woman. In that, I have hope that I can be the woman God has created me to be, I can be the wife He has created to me, and (Lord willing), I'll be able to be the mommy He created me to be.  And even more, in that one act of grace from my Hubster, I know God better - God sees past my imperfections, my short comings, my struggles, my sinfulness - He looks at me and sees Christ's righteousness as my own. He sees me the way He created me to be and the way I cannot fully be until the day Christ returns and I am with my Father in Heaven. Oh precious is this grace!

1 Month!

We have made it 1 whole month in Arizona!! Woohoo! It has been a great journey and pretty easy so far - thank you God for helping make this transition easy! I have had my job for almost a month now, and while it's hard on my heart, it is always a rewarding job and I already love this little one. We received confirmation YESTERDAY that Tony's license is on its way - I must say that I'm looking forward to him getting back to work, though I'll miss hanging out on my off days. Things of note:
-I got well acquainted with Phoenix when I visited B
-Tony and I have been able to explore our town and surrounding areas
-We've given ourselves a goal to work towards for the next year
-I'm still totally slacking on our parent scrapbooks...it's been almost a year it's time I get the tush in gear!!
-I believe I have restrained myself from starting crafty projects that are bouncing around in my head because of those scrapbooks.

Oh! I survived 4 days with out my wonderful husband this month too. I feel like a stronger person from it though... I'm not one who likes to be alone.

So that is what has been going on here lately... I'm gonna try to be better at posting on here.

(also, please ignore spelling mistakes, I'm using my boss' ipad...I'll spell check it when I have a real computer at home.)

Loves to you all,
S

hi!

HeeelllllooooooO!!!
I really don't have anything to say -- nope, not really. I just wanted to say HeeeellllllooooooO to anyone who may be reading my blog - I'm pretty sure that's only family and probably a few friendsies from Cali.
We haven't really been up to much out here.... trying to figure out what to do for entertainment here.... I think we've discovered it's pertty much the mall or bowling. BUT- we DID discover that there is an annual Ostrich Festival here.... I'm looking forward to it - but I think it's not till Spring. I think that will be very fantastic and interesting. Who wouldn't want to see an Ostrich Festival?   I hope they're not like emus - I heard perpetually sad or maybe that was....oh nope, nevermind!

Oh! I also attempted Lasagna for the first time tonight and it was fabulous! It was really quick delish - I was rather impressed. And then yummy banana splits for dessert! It was a good food day.

We also got my first Arizona paycheck which was exciting - I got some new foundations (Face Aletier) for my kit and I (surprisingly) like them more than my MAC foundation *gasp!* and my new MAC palette arrived today, which is also quite fabulous - it may be my favorite thing in my kit...but then again, the foundations may be too.   Tomorrow is little L's 1st birthday!

I'm also trying to get a pet fish...I think it would be fun. Hubster needs a little convincing --but really our nice pet frog/toad/thing, Gravel, stopped showing up - I think one of the stray cats ate him -poor guy :(

I also did the make up for a photoshoot with Ephemeral Fashions which was totally rad. There's pictures on my Make Up website - the Balloon Couture pics - you should check them out :)

I'm totally rambling now, so have a good night (or day!)

loves,

Storm Chasin'

Yesterday, we went storm chasing and it was surprisingly fun! Granted, I was terrified to begin with because I don't like thunder OR lightning, but it was totally  fun. We saw some amazing lightning - it was phenomenal!   Such a great testimony of how amazing God is!

Arizona - I cannot think of something creative right now

I feel as if it's been awhile since I've updated things... Thou I'm sure it hasn't been. I haven't been on in here in a few days because I have not been feeling well but that is kind of a laame excuse. I starred my new job yesterday and I'm definitely enjoying it and A met with his new boss and will hopefully be able to start work soon...just waiting on his license :)
Other than that, things have been pretty normal here. We start our Wednesday night church group tonit which I'm excited about! And we have a frog visitor that comes around our apt door every now and again....there are also a bunch of ferral cats that hang around too. We've spent more time at this pool than we did in CA which us nice - we don't have to worry about party people too much at this pool. It's nice and quiet here :)
However, I have noticed that I do miss wearing jeans and jackets. I really really do- they are just so so very comfy! I think the only thing I wish that would be different here would be that I knew more women my age and that I would really find someone that I click with well... We haven't really met a lot of people here yet though we are extremely blessed to have such a great group of people out here that we already know from CA. I don't think I'm homesick yet -though that might be setting in, but I definitely have a desire to hang out wuth some young women like myself and have more friendships here....but that takess time.

Until next time,
S

AZ

This morning at church was awesome! It was a slightly different format, lots of worship, reflection and prayer - just what I needed this morning.  I LOVE the new song that we learned "10,000 Reasons - Bless the Lord O My Soul".
Other than that I believe I'm fighting something off - my nose, my tummy and my hips have been a bit messed up as of late....but that's ok because God is working great things here. I start my job that He has graciously provided me with on Tuesday, A has a meeting with his new boss on Tues, and we're starting in a "community" group at church soon.   While it's definitely hard some days, we still see God working in our lives in the short time we've been here & we're excited to see where He takes us!
